Inside the Studio

Join us in the messy, hallowed, creative spaces of award-winning painters and sculptors.  That's right!  We're going behind the scenes with contemporary artists worldwide, to the places where creative magic culminates.  Contact us to be featured in 2023.

Bauer

Our first stop is White Bear Lake, Minnesota at the creative sanctuary of Ben Bauer. From the natural light, to the Persian rug, to the pastoral work in progress on his decorated easel, everything about Ben's space says, this happy, Zen space belongs to him.

Calderoni

Journey back in time to a centuries old blacksmith forge nestled in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico - home of studio artist and gallery owner Merry Calderoni! "One is indeed seduced by the large abstract works of artist, Merry Calderoni. They beg to be touched and speak to the senses, evoking memories of heat-hazed courtyards and crumbling ruins, redolent of sun-baked earth, dust and time...

Faulkner

When I first walked into Carolyn Faulkner's home studio it was like walking into a garden of both plant life and paint life! Are we inside or outside? I couldn't tell. Carolyn Ann Faulkner uses multi-level canvases, as well as found and constructed objects. Bird nests, blue jay feathers, potted plants, seashells, wooden mannequins, and twine were scattered around. An extensive art library surrounded us as we discussed her aptly named work-in-progress, "Blessing of the Garden," shown here...

Reed

Did you know that BF began her professional career as a medical illustrator? As her reputation grew, she became a freelance artist and was commissioned by numerous collectors and private organizations. A BF Reed print was presented to former First Lady, Hillary Rodham-Clinton, during a Presidential visit to Seoul, Korea. Her original watercolors were presented to the South Korean Secretary of Defense, US and foreign diplomats and military dignitaries...

Vineyard

If you are subscribed to Peggy Vineyard's monthly newsletter, you already know that she said goodbye to her home studio of 30 years as she downsized to a new space. I treasured several mornings in this timeless coastal studio, Peggy's blue-eyed cat always nuzzling me for attention while we worked. Countless conversations and canvases were crafted here. Thank you, Peggy, for welcoming me behind the scenes. We cannot wait to see what comes out of your new space!
